Course Highlights:

NAPD instructors offer two forms of the main diver course.

The first version is 80-hours long and is designed for law enforcement and government agencies that require these hours for certification and training.

The second version is 40+ hours long and is designed for recovery dive teams such as fire, military, government, and other public safety dive teams. The purpose of both programs is to train and certify individuals as NAPD divers.

The diver will be trained and certified in basic search and recovery, search patterns, line signals, equipment configuration, basic crime scene investigation and preservation, vehicle extrication, inspections of boat hulls, bridge, piers, docks, and dive team management.

 

Target Audience: Law Enforcement, Technical Rescue Teams, Licensed Armed Security. Open to all Full-Time, Part-Time, Volunteer or Reserve personnel. Military Personnel who are active duty, reserve, national guard, state defense force are welcome and encouraged to attend.

DIVE TENDER 40 HOURS
The purpose of this program is to train and certify a team member that is not intending to perform the underwater searches as a diver. This is a critical support role for the team as each person, whether diving or not should learn basic underwater search and recovery, use of search pattern signals, equipment configuration, and dive team management. Usually, NAPD instructors offer this course to department member who want to learn along side the divers going through training. This is also a great option for a non-diving team supervisor or coordinator.

 

CRIME SCENE PHOTOGRAPHER 32 HOURS
The purpose of this program is to train and certify public safety divers in the correct procedures for documentation, using photographs, of crime scenes and evidence for criminal investigations in underwater environments.

 

ADVANCED RECOVERY SPECIALIST 40 HOURS
The purpose of this program is to train and certify an individual in advanced lifting and recovery techniques beyond normal public safety diving.

 

Course Completion Requirements:  Successful completion of this course requires adherence to course policies, maintaining a minimum score of 70% on the course final examination, and successfully demonstrating all required skills.

Course Attendance Policy:  Student attendance is required at all scheduled classes.

 

Lodging & Meals:  Lodging and meals not provided, but local camping areas and hotel information will be provided upon request or registration.
